Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Black Hawk Down (2001)

Directed by Ridley Scott

Starring Josh Hartnett, Ewan McGregor, Tom Sizemore, Eric Bana

Author

Slightly long. Would have preferred to get to know one of the characters more (how about bana) and shorten it a bit.

The cinematography is good, looks like people learned a few things from Saving Private Ryan. The gatling guns pretty cool.

Now I have some historical perspective. I had no idea that stuff was going on. But apparently there were quite a few artistic liberties taken in telling the story. An interesting conflict: which is better? The distorted truth or no truth at all?

An international cast, and a good one. Nice to see all those familiar faces. Does Sizemore have to be in every war movie? Not that I mind, cuz he’s cool. Ewan doesn’t cut it, but his Trainspotting buddy Bremner is great. Bana is the man, but they just gave him scraps to work with. Move over, Russell Crowe, he’s the next big thing.
