Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Directed by Emile Ardolino

Starring Jennifer Grey, Patrick Swayze, Jerry Orbach, Cynthia Rhodes

An interesting mix of the 50’s, 60’s, and 80’s that somehow works and really feels nostalgic.

Swayze was cool, and it’s easy to see how Grey became American’s sweetheart for a little while. She has some real appeal. There seems to be quite an age difference between Swayze and Grey, but once you get past that, their chemistry is real. Orbach is wonderful as a character struggling with some real moral dilemmas. Everyone else is great, too.

Music and dance nicely weave everything together. Except for some group dancing that was too obviously choreographed, the last scene did have some magic.

Today, they’d never have a mainstream movie implying a botched abortion, especially one geared towards young adults. Amazing how much more PC we’ve gotten since the mid 80’s.
