Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Election (1999)

Directed by Alexander Payne

Starring Matthew Broderick, Reese Witherspoon, Chris Klein, Jessica Campbell

Author

A really well-made film. This Payne guy knows what he’s doing. Lots of very real, very awkward sexual moments, like Your Friends & Neighbors. Lots of well-placed metaphorical moments and editing. Really funny.

Fantastic characters. Well-casted and well-acted by all. It’s nice to see Broderick doing a real movie rather than crap like Godzilla or Inspector Gadget. Suited the role perfectly. Could have also seen William H. Macy in the same role. He and Broderick have a very similar delivery. Witherspoon was fantastic. She’s turning into quite an actress. Very expressive face, fun to watch. She really nailed the subtleties of being a high school student. Klein is perfect as Paul. Looks and acts like a young Keanu.
