Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Elizabethtown (2005)

Directed by Cameron Crowe

Starring Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, Susan Sarandon, Alec Baldwin

Author

Unfunny, undramatic, and amateurish. Surprisingly lame for Crowe. Like Garden State, it’s almost like they read the “How to Make a Cool Movie” book and mixed up “down-to-earth” actors with “witty” and “deep” dialogue when, in fact, the characters and dialogue were anything but.

We can’t hear the most important conversations in the movie because they are overlaid by loud, lame music which tries, unsuccessfully, to be sentimental.

Somehow, they got a pretty good cast together for it. Bloom’s accent is horrible. When you have a guy with a slow voiceover through half of the movie, why use a guy with a really shitty American accent? That’s unacceptable.
