Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

From Russia with Love (1963)

Directed by Terence Young

Starring Sean Connery, Daniela Bianchi, Pedro Armendáriz, Lotte Lenya

The plot’s a little slow and convoluted by today’s standards, but it’s easy to see how Bond really caught on. The violence, action, and scantily clad women were a fresh, risqué, appealing take on the spy movie. Scenes are nicely paced, dialogue is good, and the action and fight scenes are well-shot. Connery really was cool, with all the one-liners that would become iconic for action heroes.

Unfortunately, the Bond films would go downhill with each subsequent release.
