Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Network (1976)

Directed by Sidney Lumet

Starring Faye Dunaway, William Holden, Peter Finch, Robert Duvall

Author

A look at the self-consciousness of television in the 70’s, how mass media sensationalism has corrupted and ruined us, and the state of the corporate-driven world. In these respects, the film was way ahead of its time. Today, we need a similar comment on the Internet.

Also an interesting comment on the danger of being a headstrong female professional, an emerging role in the 70’s.

Not a big fan of Dunaway, but she’s good. Holden turns in a nice performance for an aging star. Finch is good as a man having a breakdown. He looks and talks like Albert Finney.

Read somewhere that voiceover is a crutch for bad storytelling. Was it really necessary here?
