Not a great story. He didn’t make it on his own (he got lucky), and he hardly won the fight. Conquering his goal of staying up was hardly the victory we wanted to see. If the ultimate goal was getting Adrian, he already had her before the fight, making the fight pointless. If she was the ultimate goal, they should have developed their relationship more than the fight.

Nice, leisurely pace, but a tad slow at times. Nice flavor. Great sets and art direction. A great, classic training montage. Interesting that Stallone wore Russian colors in the fight. Why did the TV report turn into a fast-cut training montage? I hate it when they manipulate what are supposed to be static TV sequences like that. Nice Scarface “Is he talkin’ to me?” line in the ring.

Made back when Stallone looked good and acted in REAL movies. Burgess was great. Talia skating was pretty funny.

Definite sequel material. Stallone even says at the end he wants a rematch.
