A nice mix of touching and funny, but some plot questions. In the scene were they’re all in the kitchen concerned about lying to Pat, shouldn’t they have been more concerned with how he might react when Nikki ultimately does NOT show up to the show? For whatever reason, they don’t even acknowledge Pat’s obvious and unpredictable aggression issues. And how come no comment is made on his cheating ex? Pat is desperate to get back with her, but no one seems to mind that she was a cheating slut. Why not?

Cooper can act! Lawrence looks like a cross between RenĂ©e Zellweger and Juliette Lewis. De Niro’s good as the father. I wish Chris Tucker had a real acting career.

Every shot does not need to be an extreme close-up. The intention is to make things more emotional, but it’s cheating.

Should have been titled “Read the Signs”. The current title is a little quirky.
