Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Slumdog Millionaire (2008)

Directed by Danny Boyle, Loveleen Tandan

Starring Dev Patel, Freida Pinto, Saurabh Shukla, Anil Kapoor

Author

Wonderful. Patel turns in a brilliantly mature performance for a 19 year old. True talent. Pinto is incredibly delicious. And the best kid acting I’ve seen in a long time. Music and score add wonderful energy to the story.

I was put to task to find a flaw, and I struggled. If I had to pick one, it would be that you see Salim’s change of heart too suddenly. Would have been interesting to explore his changing beliefs more gradually. My only other issue was at the beginning movie when the game show segments distracted me from the wonderful stories of the children. But in the end, it all came together nicely.

Why can’t the Indians make a movie like this? This may quite possibly be the first truly moving story out of India.
