Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Star Trek: Generations (1994)

Directed by David Carson

Starring Patrick Stewart, William Shatner, Malcolm McDowell, Jonathan Frakes

Author

A pretty interesting story (a lot like an episode of “Quantum Leap”), if not a bit confusing at times, and a nice addition to the “Star Trek” saga. I think the final few seconds could have used more punch, though, rather than ending like a TV episode.

The special effects and sound, especially the planet explosion, are simply amazing. What else is there to accomplish? We can already do everything we want to in post-production.

Of course they had to have the annoying black woman antagonist who comes out of nowhere to make the instant and ridiculous conversion from meek bystander to authoritative, condescending, and wide-eyed commander of the starship Enterprise. The only thing really missing from the film was Spock. Spock meeting Data would be pretty funny.
