Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

Directed by Irvin Kershner

Starring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams

Author

A little better than Star Wars. There seems to be a greater grasp of drama in this one, making it seem more real. The best movie probably could have been made by synthesizing the three movies of the trilogy into one.

Great special effects. Adding a few more exotic creatures brings it to a new level. But they’ve got to lose those tacky transitions. Cheesy wipes. Cheesy dialogue, too.

Was that battle scene with Vader in the swamp a dream? And who is the other hope Yoda refers to when Luke leaves?
