Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

The Dark Knight (2008)

Directed by Christopher Nolan

Starring Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine

Author

Ledger, who I never considered a particularly good actor, delivers by far the best performance of his career. What a way to go out! Eckhart does a great job, as well. The make-up and costume design better win some awards. Bale and Freeman do it again. Gyllenhaal fills in adequately for Katie Holmes, but I really think they should have gone with a more mainstream, better-looking actress.

Character development is very thorough, dialogue is snappy, editing is clean and slick, and the story is very deep. Perhaps a little too deep. It’s a pretty long movie. And even then, there are a few plot points that are glossed over. Could a shorter, tighter story have been told?

Some pretty good action, made even better by IMAX. Wonderful score. A lot of things really came together for this one.
