With the same creative team and a similar title, I thought this would be more of a sequel to Cloverfield. But while the themes and feel of the film is similar, the connection between the two stories is not really there. There is talk of a third Cloverfield film, which will have to be pretty clever to tie all of this together in a believable way.
This one is suspenseful. It certainly took a turn at the end, didn’t it? The whole alien thing was a little goofy, as it’s unclear who they are or why they’re here, but I guess that’s what sequels are for.
Michelle is a little too nonchalant about fighting aliens with futuristic technology. She should be scared shitless, but she plays it pretty cool. Goodman is good at playing creepy.
