There’s some guilt when I don’t appreciate the movies that film school says I should.
Not too sure what the this one was about. A writer goes on to direct films with a few biographical flashbacks?
Kubrickian at times. Freaky beginning. The hanging was funny. That “asa nisi masa” thing (did that mean anything or was it just nonsense?) reminded me of the “klaatu nektu” bit in The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Good music and use of sound. The only films I think I have heard classical music in are this one and 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Mastroianni is a good-looking, suave guy, a bit too suave for a writer, I think.
