An interesting character study, though I’m not sure the story offers enough arc. Who really grows from this experience? Do either of them genuinely change by the end?
Michael Cera brings his trademark nervous energy to the role, as expected. Kieran Culkin is especially strong. His performance feels raw and natural, and you can truly feel his angst and internal chaos. Jennifer Grey, once so charismatic, feels self-conscious and awkward here. I wish she did so much more.
Also, they never got the photo of the house for Marcia, as she requested.
A nice companion piece to Everything Is Illuminated, a similarly offbeat and reflective journey through historical Poland.
