Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Annie Hall (1977)

Directed by Woody Allen

Starring Woody Allen, Diane Keaton, Tony Roberts, Carol Kane

Author

A simultaneous recognition and criticism of sexual psychoanalysis. Definitely a precursor to neurotic romantic comedies like When Harry Met Sally.

Allen’s good at his shtick, but his shtick gets old after a while. He may be a genius, but he’s got a line for everything and makes references that most people wouldn’t catch. He’s kind of an elitist prick, actually.

Lots of young stars in this one. Tony Roberts looks like a young Ron Perlman. Duvall looks like a horse alien. She’s such a bad actress.

Very theatrical. I could see this one made for the stage.
