It’s cute.
Zellwegger and Grant and Firth are all great. Impressed that Zellwegger is not afraid to get naked or look ugly, prancing around looking quite ordinary and genuine. And the very English, non-American way in which Zellweger presented herself. Her accent and vocabulary are excellent. She really did her research. Her Dad was an appealing character. Grant is refreshingly evil, pretty good as a schmuck. Firth was endearing but a little unsettling the whole time, even if his character was supposed to be that way. His quick wit makes that nervous energy tolerable. Kinda weird when kissing him and pulling away is the happy ending.
The diary thing was a bit forced. Didn’t carry the story. Seemed more like a distraction.
