Total mindfuck of a movie. Very effective in making things dream-like, with its set design, cinematography, editing, special effects, and music all working to make you feel like you’re looking at things you shouldn’t be looking at, like you’re running but not getting anywhere.
Carrey is wonderful. Made from a confused brain looking outward, like Vanilla Sky, and Being John Malkovitch (not surprising to see it was written by BJM’s Charlie Kaufman), and chronologically broken up because it has to be.
Interesting “love is worth pursuing despite inevitable failure” message at the end.
