Braff is in love with himself. It’s too bad he’s not funny or engaging.
A desperate attempt to combine the oddball deadpan of Wes Anderson with the crazy darkness of Donnie Darko with an uninteresting story about teen angst (with the requisite scene glorifying drug use by simulating its effects on screen). The movie is a complete failure. The whole Shawshank Redemption, outstretched arms in the rain moment is when I completely lost it. Improve the dialogue efficiency by about 200% and it might be entertaining.
I’m surprised Portman would take on a project like this.
Some OK music.
