Tragic story about a guy who was exhausted and taken advantage of and tormented by life in so many ways. But the way that it’s made is not all that engaging, with repetitive block-letter title cards, vignetted aerial fly-bys, and still photos artificially refocused over and over again doing a mediocre job keeping things organized and interesting. The outer space thing, while thematically important, is a bit repetitive. And the story seems disjointed, jumping around in time when it didn’t seem necessary.
I would have loved more interview footage from Gary instead of hearing others talk about him. I know it’s out there, as we see clips and hear audio from many longer interviews.
