Flashbacks effectively tell the story. Interesting idea, and some suspenseful sequences. The scene with the gun in dark magnificently shot. Monsters were a bit too CGI, though.
Will Smith is engaging. He really needs to stick with victim roles. Seeing a cocky guy humbled by the drama is one of the best dramatic maneuvers a director can make. How is he immune, though? German shepherd was great, too. I was surprised to learn it wasn’t Smith’s.
Newcomer Lawrence knows what he’s doing.
