A worthy sequel. Nice and long and beautifully shot, like the others from the series. An example of how some decent writing and characters can take a kung fu movie to the next level. The relationships are complex, but they work and have real emotion. Dramatically, Wing-sing’s death sometime before the end of the movie would have given the fights a bit more punch.
Yen’s still got the moves. His humble, aw-shucks-but-I’ll-kick-ass-when-I-have-to thing continues to be charming. It’s too bad he’s now done with the role. Full props to Tyson. He’s not a great actor, but I bet he had a ball, and it’s nice to see him throwing punches again. Some convincing Bruce Lee CGI would have been amazing.
