One of Statham’s better roles. He’s a bad-ass, probably more in this movie than in any other because he gets hurt, expresses emotion, and shows vulnerability. He’s not quite as robotic as he usually is. Owen is a marvelous adversary. I don’t know if it’s look or his diction, but he’s always got a wonderful presence. I love the eye prosthetic, and his fight with Statham in the hospital was top-notch. De Niro’s a bad-ass for the few minutes that he’s in the movie. The mustachioed Purcell plays an interesting character. A whole movie could be about him.
The plot’s a little convoluted, though I do enjoy the second wind.
Nice 80’s flavor to it, with all the right clothes, sets, cars, and technology.
