It’s hard to feel for or support a protagonist who is so demented and unfeeling. At one point in the film, it is revealed that 28% of the American audience enjoyed watching Andy. One has to assume that any realistic portrayal of him would have similar appeal. There’s a reason there haven’t been many biographies made about Hitler. Nobody likes him.
