Creatively, it’s an interesting, and perhaps the most successful, Disney/Pixar collaboration. The story of innocence and growth, the respect for tradition and elders, the mystery of folklore, and all the musical numbers are pure Disney. The quality of the animation is pure Pixar, and it’s pretty great. Looks like they finally figured out how to perfectly animate flowing hair. Even the water is pretty good. A beautiful closing credits sequence.
Great voices, just recognizable enough to be fun. The Rock is particularly good as Maui.
