A bit long, even for a guy who loves baseball and statistics.
Pitt took the role and ran, but I’m just not sure the role and story is dramatic and interesting enough to maintain interest for 2+ hours.
The backstory about Beane’s family was just a backstory when it should have been so much more. More family background could have built his character and may have made Beane’s decision to stay more noble. As interested as I am in Beane’s influence on the game, if there’s no emotional depth to it, I’m not sure there’s a worthwhile story to tell here.
Didn’t get the jinx thing. They were winning, then he visited the field and they started losing. It was only when he left the field did they pull off a win. What was that supposed to mean? And for a guy who doesn’t watch games and doesn’t care about records, why does he pump his fist in the locker room?
We needed more funky number graphics. Those were great.
