Touching portrait. Shame how, in this day and age of internet research, we know that the ending as a bit misleading and it wasn’t quite so happy for Brown. It would have been more powerful if the truth had been told.
Day-Lewis is exceptional, but we already knew that. He’s a little hard to understand at times, but I guess that’s the point.
Really wonderful period sets, costumes, casting and performances, one the best efforts to do transport you back in time that I have seen in a while. It really did feel like we were back in the 30’s and 40’s. Very little score makes it even more real.
Wonderful debut film by Sheridan.
