Dafoe is fantastic, Oscar-worthy. Dafoe deserves an Oscar even though Shrek didn’t get one (that’s kinda sad). He seems to be good at heavy/weird characters. Malkovich is good, too. Accents are good, too.
Well-directed, nice style and complementary music. It teases us with a few real clips from the original Nosferatu (1st nostalgic shot is great), and uses similar make-up and performance. It’s Oscar stuff. Spooky ending, with no resolution.
Interesting watch for film enthusiasts, although one wonders exactly where they drew the line between fact and fiction with Shrek and Murnau.
Same question as Frankenstein: who is the greater evil, the monster or its creator?
