I suppose writing a good time paradox story takes some skill, but then there are the predictable action scenes, jarring camera movements, and a gratuitous nudity that mark all of Van Damme’s films.
Like a lot of movies from the 90’s, this one was shot like a television sitcom. It begins with a soundtrack and credits on a black screen and ends with a camera on a house with noise from the inside (establishing shot), zooming out, and fading to black with sappy music to introduce the credits.
Van Damme was a good-looking guy, but he’s so darn goofy! And as an actor, he’s so affordable, we can once again have two of him. Why are villains in non-American movies always such cartoon characters?
Once again, an overly optimistic portrayal of the near future (see the comment for Bladerunner). Couldn’t he have thrown the bomb out the window instead of risking everyone’s lives by walking down the stairs and out the front door?
