These guys both certainly have a gift for comedy and great chemistry. It’s fun to watch. You can tell that much of the show is rehearsed, but there’s just the right amount of ad-libbing and riffing and rolling with mistakes. The back-and-forth self-deprecation really defines their style. It’s really a shame that Chevy’s too much of a dick to join them, even as a special guest. I wonder if he’d be able to add anything.

Martin’s humor is mostly punny with occasional pushes into the inappropriate. I’m sure he’s the one who came up with the title of the show. But Martin also has real heart, showing it with a very serious and excellent banjo performance. You can also see it in his movies. There’s always something a little touching about his movies and his performances.

Short is the pure comedian, with marvelous voice and facial control and additional talents with song and dance. Short has Martin chuckling pretty much nonstop, almost as if Martin is in awe of Short’s voice control and timing. In fact, Martin seems slightly uptight and nervous at times, folding his arms for most of the intro and whenever Short starts to steal the show. It’s interesting body language. I’ve never seen him do that before.

I wonder why these two aren’t trying to make good movies these days. Seems like they’ve still got some good comedy chops to offer the world.

Nicely shot. Entertaining enough to have been twice as long, though apparently the live show is quite a bit longer and this was edited down for Netflix. There’s an awkward moment at the end when they say that they have to fill one hour and fifty minutes when the special was barely an hour long.
