Nice to see the passion, precision, and reverence that go into Jiro’s craft, but there’s not much to this story that’s particularly dramatic or engaging.
Interesting to see so much reverence for a character like Jiro. A similar character here in the US would be ripped to shreds by critics, disparaged by competitors, and targeted by social media haters.
Loving, artsy piano-driven sequences showing the fine and delicate art of sushi-making, though seeing poor little fishies getting sliced open while still alive was a bit much for this sensitive guy.
Interesting but perhaps poorly chosen title, as Jiro confessed in a Canberra Times article that he had never in fact dreamed of sushi.
