Thoughts on every movie I've ever seen.

Pretty risque (yuk) for an early 80’s high school movie. Perhaps the R rating shows that the movie was probably not made for high school kids. Some dark themes, and it’s even darkly shot. That’s an early 80’s thing, even for comedies.

This was the high school movie before John Hughes really made them fun. You can even see some of the same thematic elements that Hughes would later run with, like authoritative parents, destroying your father’s very expensive car, and the allure of unattainably hot women.

Cruise is pretty good, though his famous underwear dance is actually a little weird. This is also probably the last time Cruise played a loser. It wouldn’t be long before Top Gun made him a superstar. Pichot looks the exact same. De Mornay seemed a little spaced out, but she was a cutie, wasn’t she?
