A great exposé of one of the biggest shams in recent years. Amazing the Church even allowed it to get made. If they were smart, they would have prevented its production from happening in the first place. Now, it’s too late.
It’s scary how seductive this is to some people, how quickly people favor the whimsical claims of a science fiction author to hard science. And yes, getting Travolta and Cruise was a real coup to them. But when his family and many of his closest followers have turned their backs on him, you know it’s a giant crock.
Polished, nicely paced, very well-organized and narrated. Would have loved to hear a modern-day interview from Travolta or Cruise. I wonder if the filmmakers could have given them a fair chance to defend themselves and their religion.
