Overall, better than I thought it would be. It’s Zach Snyder, so it’s beautiful and polished and graphic, but the story is a bit jumbled and the acting is pretty blah. There were a few moments when I didn’t really know what was going on, including a ghost sequence and a dream sequence that’s one of the most graphically intense scenes in the movie.
Affleck is no Bale, but his acting style suits the movie. Nice introduction of Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot was quite a find. I was wondering when we might see her origin story, but as I write this, I see that they are wrapping up post-production on the Wonder Woman movie. I wasn’t convinced that Eisenberg was a good Luthor, but by the end of the movie, his nervous ticks were reminiscent of Ledger’s Joker, hinting at a psychological instability that really worked for the character.
In the end, a nice followup to the Bale Batmans and a good lead-in to the rest of the Justice League movies. Snyder’s style, especially if he continues to direct, will definitely help distinguish this universe from the Marvel universe.
