Good character development. I was skeptical, but Cumberbatch ended up being a good choice for the lead. I always found him to be a bit stiff, but he’s actually kind of funny in this one, and his American accent and personality is pretty authentic. The dialogue feels a bit stunted and scripted at times, but Cumberbatch does a pretty good job with it overall. Mads is great.
Effects are fun in a kaleidoscopic and psychedelic sort of way, some of them drawing inspiration from Contact and Inception. Themes of alternate, mirror realities remind me of similar themes and effects in The Matrix. Camera is unnecessarily shaky at times, a failed attempt to add energy to the action.
But in the end… I’m getting tired of these Marvel movies. Is anyone else? They keep making money.
