Great performance by Malek, who really hasn’t done a lot of real dramatic work before. He obviously did a lot of work to channel Freddie. His vocals are sensational, though research reveals that he had some help there. And based on interviews I’ve seen with the Mercury, the accent seems a little operatic and strong. Regardless, he deserves to be in the Oscar conversation.
I like how they showcased almost the entire Live Aid performance, but I agree with critics who aren’t too thrilled that they reordered some real life events for dramatic effect.
