Reminds me a lot of The King of Kong in that it’s a bunch of fringe characters, and we’re not quite sure whether or not we should be taking them seriously.
In this case, with Crosby leading the interviews, one must assume that this was a serious look at Trek culture and that the laughs are secondary. There’s no way Crosby would alienate her biggest fans.
Crosby also probably also got us some inside interviews and footage that wouldn’t have been possible if an outsider was in charge. Timely, too, with some of the original cast members dying in recent years.
