Cage is the star of the film, and he’s simultaneously making fun of the crazy phenomenon he has become. The script they are writing is this movie. It’s all very meta and reminiscent of Being John Malkovitch in so many ways.
Cage is entertaining. How much of this is biographical, I wonder? And is this an ironic attempt to jumpstart his career again? The young Nic CGI scenes great, but I would have liked one final scene for Nic to reconcile with his younger self. Sharon Horgan as his ex-wife keeps up with him, and that’s a real accomplishment. Pedro is good, too. A nice recovery after the abomination that was Wonder Woman 1984.
