Classic Pixar, with unique and emotionally deep characters, real comedy, a sense of adventure, and truly exquisite animation. Magical ending. I almost lost it.
The trailer looked a little silly, and the lack of full-length trailers, internviews, “making of” specials didn’t really excite me about going to see the it. But it was Pixar, and that was enough to guarantee that I’d give it a chance.
It was exactly that ignorance which made the story such an adventure. I wonder if/when marketing execs will realize that less pre-publicity might make their movies better. I guess the strategy only works when you have a guaranteed home run, as you do with any Pixar film these days.
This Pixar short, Partly Cloudy, was one of the best.
