Smart social satire, which is definitely Adam Carolla’s thing. A lot of philosophy and a few intelligent social arguments, but unfortunately it always dissolves into crappy comedy before anything is truly resolved. Still pondering his stand-up comic routine and use of the film as a pulpit at the end of the film.

A couple of funny moments, but I just don’t like Woody’s comedy very much. It’s just not funny. It’s just way too simple and obvious, and I don’t even understand what’s funny about it. Woody’s comedy is a cross between Bugs Bunny and the Marx brothers, with wall-to-wall smart-ass one-liners that are more annoying than witty, with a hint of clumsy Chevy humor thrown in for good measure. Generally, the visual and situational comedy is much funnier than any of the verbal comedy. There are a few silent (with great special effects) scenes which are pretty funny (especially the bottle-on-the-head scene) and seem to pay homage to early comedy. The Black Russian sargeant was pretty funny too.

Not very well-made. A lot of the lines are screwed up. Sound editing is awful. Sad to see that the actress who played the Russian Countess killed herself. See what beauty really does to a girl?

Adam Carolla’s favorite movie.
