Decent story, but nothing is really accomplished. The recounts are kinda like Rashomon. Irons is good. He’s pretty funny, too. he makes funny jokes about himself, and the last line of the movie is hilarious. But I think they should have dumped Glenn Close and instead gotten someone who was older, uglier, less famous, and cheaper. Then they could have used the money they saved to get someone more popular to play the lawyer.
The opening shot was like The Professional. I don’t think the two voice-overs worked, though. They should have used them only for Irons. Maybe Close demanded the voice-overs to substantiate her appearance as a star actress, something that wouldn’t have happened with someone else in the role.
Good insight into the law practice. I never want to be a lawyer. It’s not about justice. It’s about what you can get away with.
