A really cute movie about a lovable retard who likes to run. It was a performance well done by Hanks within a simple, magnetic plot. I thought the war scenes were unbelievable. The realism and drama along with the twist of a dumb soldier really provided some interesting entertainment. Based on the excitement from that one scene, the whole movie could have been made a war movie.
I have but one question. If Forrest Gump is such a popular hero and symbol of American folklore, how come nobody who sat down next to him on the bench knew who he was?
Perhaps a bit too much of a focus on Lt. Dan, a real downer. And why the preoccupation with assassinations?
