It just wasn’t too entertaining. The comedy wasn’t too funny, and Cheech could have been a lot funnier. I just don’t like Rene Russo. I think that it could have been better with someone else.
Shelton was apparently trying to recapture the flavor of Bull Durham in this movie. I just don’t think he did. Bull Durham had real comedy, and Costner as Crash Davis was more interesting. It was cool seeing those few homages to Bull Durham, including his baseball swing on the golf course and the origin of his nickname.
A lot of movies have used the Tango (True Lies, Scent of a Woman), particularly at the end. I don’t know why I noticed that.
