I liked the romantic comedy and dramatic aspects of it, and I think the actors did a great job with their characters. Good drama, great awkward situations, and a few really funny moments. It just seemed like the air traffic controller bit was kinda forced into the story, almost interfering with it. Like mixing romantic comedy with documentary. Just seems a bit awkward.
I understand that air traffic controlling is very stressful, and being the best at it means being the most macho in this movie, but air traffic controlling just seems a bit obscure. We waste a bit of time learning about it before we can truly understand the characters and get on with the story. Imagine these same characters in a more well-known environment, as teammates on a baseball team, for example. Everyone knows baseball. We’d be presented with comedy and drama from the get-go.
Cusack, Thornton, and Blanchett are all great. Thornton looked real skinny.
