A perfect film for both Ridley Scott and James Cameron. Great effects, and a few really funny lines (harsh language), especially by Paxton. Reminded me a lot of Terminator 2. Same kinds of characters, same music, same lighting, same gun-in-the-face-of-the-monster shot with the elevator door closing, same monster-breaking-through-the-windshield-reaching-for-the-victim shot, same “affirmative” thing with the kid. And the chair-thrown-against-the-unbreakable-window was kinda like the scene in True Lies.

That synthetic human was awesome! Perhaps the best character in the film. And the scene when he is torn apart is incredible! I wish we could have seen more hand-to-hand battles with the aliens. Great ending.

Plenty of homages in this film. The beginning was kinda like Planet of the Apes, the face fading into the planet was kinda like 2001: A Space Odyssey, the shot of the fan was an homage to Ridley Scott, maker of the first Alien. And I liked the 2010 idea of returning to search for old ship. Could the “Punch it Bishop!” be right out of Star Wars?

Do the aliens use only humans as hosts (the face-huggers fit human faces perfectly), or are there other alien species out there? That question could lead to other aliens and a sequel.
