A respectful account of a war hero, but the story as it’s told seems a bit simplistic. I know we’re bound by the truth here, but something was missing for me dramatically. A man goes to war, bad guys die, friends get killed, and he struggles to reconnect with his wife and life back home. Sure, Kyle was a world-class sniper and we respect what he did for his country, but I craved a unique dramatic angle to make this story special.
And the story lacks a proper build. Whether it’s war sequences or the struggle with his family back home, there’s a constant level of tension throughout. Can’t help but think that more peaks and valleys might have made things a bit more dramatic.
Cooper plays a good redneck. His accent is flawless, and so is Sienna’s.
So Kyle heard a shot behind him over a mile away, he flipped around, and out of all the rooftops and minarets between himself and the horizon, he spotted the other sniper after a few seconds? Are the scopes better in real-life than they were portrayed in the movie?
