Why do all the great detectives have such distinctive accents and wordplay? When was the last time you saw a brilliant detective with a standard American accent just telling it like it is?
Interesting cast of characters. I’m sure Craig and Evans both loved playing against type for a change. Craig pulls off the accent, though it looks like his mouth is struggling a bit at the beginning. He sounded a lot like Leonardo DiCaprio’s Calvin Candie in Django Unchained. The camera loves de Armas. What a wonderful face. Could this be her breakout role?
The quirkiness of the characters and limited sets made me wonder what this movie would have been like if it was directed by Wes Anderson.
