One of many interesting and symbolic “new society” stories (naturism vs. savagery and anarchy), like Mosquito Coast (naturism vs. consumerism) or Orwell’s Animal Farm (naturism vs. savagery and anarchy), where a pig named Snowball rose to power. Somehow, I wanted the story to go further on the island before they were discovered. Some beautiful photography, and pretty good direction of the kids. The boulder landing on Piggy and the pig’s head were kinda gross.
Kind of weird that Hook directed and edited this film, and did virtually nothing else his whole career.
