The Farrelly formula: shocking gross-out humor, genitalia gags, animatronic animal cruelty, and random, exaggerated absurdities blended with simple romance and set to 70’s-style easy listening tunes.
Carrey returns to his comic roots and does a pretty god job. Lots of opportunities for physical humor. Part of his appeal is that he can be the straight man and the funny man at the same time. A few truly funny lines, mostly improv by Carrey as Hank. More refreshing than funny seeing smart black gangsta kids. Never heard a gangsta speak German before.
Some interesting psycho-babble. Hank’s thoughts of Irene (and the fact that they were all right on the mark) were interesting.
I liked all the stills over the end credits of actors who were cut or edited from the movie due to time constraints. Very considerate. Lots of sports cameos. Why?
