The movie is as confused as Woody is. It’s black and white to imply that it’s an art film and slightly quirky in a Fargo or Napoleon Dynamite sort of way, but if you strip all that away, all we have left is a dumb premise and wooden performances.
Forte is personable, but his performance is lacking. I know it’s a drama, but I really wanted him to be a little funny. Mom has a few good lines.
